PhD in Agronomy
- General regulations of the University of Gondar regarding admission of students to PhD degree programs shall apply.
- Notwithstanding the above, students wishing to enroll for this program must have Master of Science degree in agronomy, crop/plant physiology, soil science, horticulture or other related fields (climatology, agro economics, crop protection, etc) from a recognized and accredited institution of higher learning.
- Candidates requesting for admission from fields other than agronomy may be required to take additional courses to compensate for the deficiencies as per the recommendation of the Department Graduate Committee (DGC).
- Candidates have to submit concept note on current agricultural issues.
- There will be a personal interview and discussion.
- In case of everything being equal, students having work experience will be given preference in admission.

PhD in Plant Pathology
1). Master of Science (MSc) degree in Plant Pathology, Agronomy, Crop Protection,
Microbiology, Horticulture, Biology, Botany or other related disciplines or an equivalent
degree from a nationally and internationally known university;
2). Candidates requesting for admission from fields other than Plant Pathology may be
required to take additional courses to compensate for the deficiencies as per the
recommendation of Post Graduate Program Directorate (PGPD) and approved by College
of Post Graduate Program Coordinator (CPGPC).
3). At least a student should have to be registered with a research synopsis.
4). Recommendation letter from current employer (1) and academic supervisors (1)
