Admission Criteria
The candidates must have a Master’s degree (or an equivalent degree) in agricultural economics. Applicants from other fields including economics, agricultural marketing, agribusiness and value chain management, natural resource economics, development economics, international economics, and related to agricultural economics courses should be required to attend key remedial courses from lower levels as specified by the Departmental Graduates Committee (DGC) depending on the background of the applicant before starting Ph.D. study.

Graduation Requirements
To be eligible for graduation, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:
- Twenty credit hours of course work, with no “C” or “D” grade in any course taken.
- A Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.00. and;
- Successful accomplishment of mid-term evaluations;
- Thirty credit hours of research work on which a dissertation must be written;
- The PhD dissertation should be produced either Manuscript or Monographic form;
- A draft copy of at least one published article from the doctoral dissertation in reputable journal;
- Pass in dissertation defense examination; a student to be recommended for graduation should defend successfully and be awarded a pass mark by the examination board based on the quality of dissertation and oral defense.
