About the Program

The Rural Transformation and Innovation System Management (RUTISM) masters program is is a fulltime two years program aimed at producing produce professionals in rural transformation and innovation system management (RUTISM) with world-class competence for understanding the rural realities as well as for developing rural transformation skills.

The RUTISM masters program enables

  • produce competent professionals that can properly understand the complex situation of smallholder farmers and envisage effective and efficient ways of alleviating their constraints.

  • disciplining inter-trans-disciplinarity for addressing and tackling complex real rural problems effectively.

  • understand and manage diverse unknowns in rural livelihoods for decision making and action.

  • students who undergo this program to comprehend the deeper implications of the triangular interactions of science, society and market.

  • Produce human resource with especial knowledge and skills of integrating various concerned disciplines and practitioners working together for the same goals of rural transformation.

  • enhance the rural transformation competences of higher education, research, extension and development institutions

Admission requirements

  • BSC/BA Bachelor of Science or Art degree in agriculture, rural development, development studies, agricultural extension, rural development and agricultural extension, agricultural economics, agri-business, economics, management, sociology, disaster risk management, natural resource management, applied geography, soil and water management, watershed management or closely related field in Plant Sciences, Horticultural Sciences, Crop Sciences, Crop production and protection, Biology or other related fields

  • Passing entrance qualification examination

Graduation requirements

To be eligible for graduation all the master candidates must fulfill:

  • Min. 28 credit hours (60ECTS) of course work

  • Six credit hours of research work

  • A minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.00.

  • Successful Thesis and defense examination
