The Forest Management and Utilization (FOMU) MSc program is a fulltime two years program that aims to produce graduates for professional careers in the forestry and related sector. Students will learn important concepts and theories, develop management skills and techniques for sustainable forest management and utilization of forest resources. This program addresses the full spectrum of forest ecosystem management for environmental services and products. It also contains courses intended for the development of management planning and research skills that will make graduates fit to wide professional carriers in the forestry and related sectors and further professional career development. The program will:

  • Acquaint graduates with in-depth and comprehensive knowledge in forest ecosystems,

forest development, management and utilization and ecosystem services

  • Enable graduates to apply their technical knowledge to analysis and solve problems in

forestry

  • Enable graduates to design and implement effective management practices for sustainable

resource utilization

  • Equip graduates with scientific methodological approaches and skills to conduct and

communicate researches in their respective specialization both independently and in

interdisciplinary team

  • Enable graduates to master diverse and complex tasks in their prospective research,

development, academic and business carriers and professions and forestry related

investments

  • Create synergy among education, research and development in the forestry sector

Admission requirements

  • BSC in the specified areas (Forestry, Natural resources Management and related fields)

  • Eligible applications are assessed using the following selection criteria:

e) Entrance examination

Graduation requirements

To be eligible for graduation all the master candidates must fulfill:

  • Successful completion of a minimum of 32 Cr. hr of course work

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and conduct research independently: completion of Master’s thesis and successful defense ( minimum of Pass grade) ;

  • A minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.00;
